I am a double-board certified physician specializing in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry, a telemedicine expert, a digital health advisor and researcher, a speaker, a writer, and a 2017 NYC marathon finisher. My aim is to improve the quality of life for patients and their families by combining evidence-based research with technology and design to implement effective and impactful clinical solutions.
I received my medical degree with distinction in research from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2013. I completed my adult psychiatry training at Emory School of Medicine and my child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Currently, I am a member of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) digital health team, a digital health consultant, and sit on the boards of various non-profit organizations. I also serve as the Assembly Representative for the Asian American Caucus. During the rise of anti-Asian hate, I authored advocacy pieces (https://bit.ly/ClinicalPsychiatryNewsVO and https://bit.ly/APAPsychiatryNews) to raise awareness and promote federal legislation.
I’ve received research support from federal sources and non-profit foundations and have also received over 20 awards, including from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the American Psychiatric Association (APA), and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). I was previously the John E. Schowalter Resident on the Council (Board of Directors) of AACAP.
My experiences in technology include consulting with the APA PsychPRO Registry, developing digital health startups, and participating in a fellowship with Mount Sinai Innovation Partners. I previously served on the APA Committee on Mental Health Technology and provided clinical and business development expertise to health tech companies (HIMS Inc., Vida, and eClinicalWorks) as a consultant.
