Dr Nondumiso Makhunga-Stevenson (MBChB, MSc, PCC) is an Executive and Leadership Development Coach (ICF PCC Credentialed), who helps high-performing physicians who feel overlooked for leadership roles build the visibility, influence, and strategic capacity required to advance.
With over 20 years of experience across clinical care, research, the pharmaceutical sector, and multinational healthcare organizations, including regional roles across Africa and Asia, she brings a systems-level understanding of how leadership decisions are made and how physicians can position themselves effectively within them.
She specializes in leadership advancement for physicians navigating the transition from clinician to executive. Her work focuses on helping physicians move beyond clinical excellence alone to develop the executive presence, organizational awareness, and strategic communication required to operate at system level and secure leadership roles.
Dr Makhunga-Stevenson is the world’s first medical doctor formally trained and certified in Ubuntu Coaching. She integrates relational intelligence into leadership development, enabling physicians to lead with both influence and humanity in complex healthcare environments.
Her coaching provides a structured and results-focused space where physicians clarify their leadership identity, strengthen their voice and visibility, and build the capacity to contribute at higher levels of decision making.
She also creates dedicated spaces for women physicians and underrepresented professionals who are navigating visibility, identity, and advancement within complex systems. Her work supports them to rise into leadership without compromising their values, wellbeing, or sense of self.
Dr Makhunga-Stevenson is deeply committed to developing physicians who are not only clinically excellent, but also equipped to shape the future of healthcare. Her approach combines strategic insight, lived experience, and a grounded understanding of the personal and professional cost of leadership without preparation.
She supports physicians to advance with influence, clarity, and integrity.
