There is a formula for writing fiction, and you do not need to get an additional college degree to learn it.
This talk is for writers and would-be writers of fiction, who want to learn the elements of the story arc and how to use them to satisfy your readers. While many of us intuit what a story needs to be successful, keeping these simple but essential points in mind can help you develop your characters, create effective twists and turns in your plot–in the right places, and drive your tale forward to a stunning climax and conclusion.
We will touch briefly on the different types of arcs: the three-act, the five-act, the hero’s journey, and the snowflake (yes, really), although they are all very similar. You will learn how a character arc is similar to a story arc but also different. If there is time, open to discussion about POV and themes.
