Would I Do It Again?

I was asked if I’d do it all over again. In a nutshell, the answer is yes.

I was asked if I’d do it all over again:

Yes.

When I trained for 12 years in the 80s and 90’s physicians and their teams were in charge of manufacturing preventive, medical, surgical and palliative outcomes with patient’s. We applied the ever advancing sciences of medicine and delivered it wrapped in empathy to optimize both outcomes and costs.

I witnessed the rise of insurance, PBM, Pharma DTC, MedMal, hospital admin, MOC and EHR industries all catalyzed by government mandates and subsidizes and self anointed ‘designers’ who promised the gift of increased access and decreased costs with safer and better outcomes. But in reality these con artists delivered diminished segregated and rationed access to medical care for patients, higher costs, more administrative workflow burning out physicians and distracting us from our appointed rounds, while worsening safety and outcomes and raising costs by redistributing resources. from the bedside to the boardrooms.

Parallel to the slaughter of physicians, our teams and our patients I also witnessed a rise in the industries direct and indirect bribes to politicians reinforcing the demise of access to quality affordable healthcare in America by rewriting industry’s goal of ‘Some Access to ‘Providers’ with little value for patients and great value for industries’.
