Featured Physician Artist: Dr. Judith Hong

What I make:

Watercolor paintings and prints of the paintings. Mainly of quails and other whimsical subjects.

What inspired me to make it:

I lost my house and everything I own in the Tubbs fire in 2017 in Santa Rosa.  Afterwards I was one of the recipients of watercolor painting gifts from a woman named Joy.  After moving 8 times in 3 months, we finally found a rental in Windsor and discovered that the town animal was the quail and there were little quails in our neighborhood.  I started watercolor painting on March 15 2020 when the shelter-in-place order hit our county and it’s been such a wonderful experience.  I love doing commissioned/custom pieces and also doctor quail pieces.

Interesting fact about actually making it:

I often paint while listening to Bob Marley.
