about the speaker

Dr. Carolyn Roy-Bornstein is a board-certified pediatrician and the Writer-in-Residence at the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program where she leads residents in Narrative Medicine workshops. She is also the author of “Writing Through Burnout: How to Thrive While Working in Healthcare”. She has given keynote addresses and grand rounds for audiences of many hundreds. She also leads intimate workshops of 10 or 20 participants. An example of the latter is available for viewing on this site. Dr. Roy-Bornstein was giving a narrative medicine workshop to healthcare professionals at the annual conference of the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts. Some of her other speeches and workshops have included University of Iowa’s “The Examined Life” conference, the University of Massachusetts Medical Center’s Grand Rounds and Humanities in Medicine speaker series, Harvard University’s “Improving Healthcare Leadership, Communication and Outcomes Through Writing and Publishing” conference, Muse & the Marketplace, Boston, and Henniker College’s “New England Narrative Conference.” Her speeches are engaging, her style warm and supportive.
