Dr. Sonali Mantoo is an ABIM board certified Critical Care Medicine and Internal Medicine Physician, Director of Simulation and
Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences. She trained and worked at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, after medical school in India. Her career has taken her from India to Harlem, Connecticut, St. Louis and Manhattan, spanning underserved populations in the community and academic medical center in University hospitals. She worked with Doctors without Borders during the Covid Pandemic in Mumbai and continues to volunteer with their telemedicine unit.
Sonali is a self-professed wellness junkie and was co-created the GME Wellness committee at Harlem Hospital, NYC, during her time there as an Intensivist and Educator. She became an attending physician in Critical Care at 31 and found that being n charge was a different challenge than immigrating to a new country or working grueling hours in residency and fellowship. She found solace in books like Lean In, Never Split the Difference and Nice girls don’t get the corner office. Inspired by Sheryl Sandberg, she created a “Lean In” Circle for young women while navigating her professional role as a minority. After a difficult struggle with Long Covid, she advocates combining traditional and holistic healing modalities for recover from a chronic illness. Sonali credits her lifelong dedication to wellness being instrumental in ability to thrive even in the midst of crisis.
Sonali is a Digital Creator and posts regularly on different social media platforms. She loves making reels, editing posts and playing with fonts, colors and visuals Her favorite medium of creative self expression is Instagram and writing. She loves dancing, traveling, music, making art, building community, swimming, diving, fitness and is a trained yoga teacher. When physically restricted due her illness, technology became her creative outlet. She is an active user of AI and is currently exploring combining Simulation with AI for education. Sonali is personable, gregarious, creative and loves to make the most of her life experiences, sharing her learnings through talks, blogs and posts.
