I studied medicine at the University of Alberta and completed my residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Calgary. I moved to Toronto in 2008 to complete a master’s degree in Health Sciences in Family and Community Medicine with a concentration in global health at the Dalla Lana School of Public health. Soon after, I started an academic inner city practice at St. Michael’s Hospital. During my 10 years at St. Michael’s Hospital, I treated many individuals facing poverty, marginalization, significant mental health challenges and addiction.
After recovering from postpartum depression and burnout, I decided that it was time to change directions in my career as I firsthand realized the importance of holistic care and healthier lifestyle choices to help support my own recovery. I received my diploma with the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine in 2020. I am passionate about empowering individuals to reach their optimal health and wellbeing through proven evidence-based lifestyle changes. I am currently involved in Lifestyle Medicine teaching, residency curriculum design, and advocacy to help advance Lifestyle Medicine within Canada and internationally. I also work within academia and the private sector to help build lifestyle medicine and longevity medicine programs.
When I’m not working, I’m hanging out with my kiddo, hubby and friends and enjoy travelling, reading and engaging in creative pursuits!
