Dr. Sharifa Glass is a pediatrician, lactation consultant, media expert, and corporate consultant. She is the owner of The Vine Pediatrics and Lactation, Houston’s house call practice for babies, kids, and moms. Her private practice (the first of its kind in the Houston area) supports all mothers in reaching their breastfeeding or pumping goals and provides evidence-based medical care for children in the comfort of their own homes. Since its opening in 2021, her practice has been voted as one of the Top 3 pediatric practices in the Houston area by local publications.

She is a native Houstonian and was ranked 3rd in her graduating class at Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions, a nationally awarded school. She continued her studies at the University of Houston where she graduated with High Honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Her educational journey took her to Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia where she received a Doctor of Medicine degree before she returned back to her hometown. While in Houston, she completed pediatric residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and its affiliated hospitals (Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, and HealthBridge Children’s Hospital). Since finishing residency, Dr. Glass has worked in general pediatrics, pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric urgent care medicine, and breastfeeding medicine. She combines all of these unique skills into providing exceptional, compassionate care to her patients. She is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. She is currently the only African-American physician in Texas to hold both of these certifications as a pediatrician and a lactation consultant. After residency, she also became a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Glass holds an adjunct position as a clinical assistant professor at Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston and is a member of the medical school’s Admissions Committee. In addition, Dr. Glass mentors high school students, pre-med university students, and pediatric resident physicians to increase African-American representation in the field of medicine. A nationally recognized pediatric and lactation expert, Dr. Glass has been featured on several media outlets including Yahoo!, WebMD, CVS Pharmacy, PopSugar, Parents, Motherly, and more.
