ABOUT THIS LECTURE

Target audience: Physician or member of the public looking to learn about new pain treatment modalities.

Here are four key takeaways a physician, or member of the general audience, might learn from a talk on energy medicine: shockwave therapy, red light therapy, and PEMF for orthopedic injuries:

  1. Mechanisms of Action: A deeper understanding of how shockwave therapy, red light therapy, and PEMF stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and promote tissue regeneration. This includes their effects on increasing blood flow, enhancing collagen synthesis, and stimulating stem cell activity for faster healing in orthopedic injuries.
  2. Evidence-Based Applications: Insight into the latest research and clinical trials that support the effectiveness of these modalities in treating specific orthopedic conditions such as tendinopathies, fractures, osteoarthritis, and muscle injuries. Physicians will learn about the indications, contraindications, and success rates for each therapy.
  3. Protocol Optimization: Practical guidelines on how to integrate these energy-based therapies into clinical practice, including appropriate treatment dosages, frequencies, and durations for different injury types. Physicians will also understand how to combine these therapies with traditional orthopedic interventions for optimal patient outcomes.
  4. Age-Specific and Athlete Applications: An exploration of how shockwave, red light, and PEMF therapies can be tailored to different patient demographics, particularly aging individuals and athletes, to minimize recovery time, enhance performance, and maintain long-term joint and muscle health. This includes considerations for frequency of use and intensity of treatment based on age and activity level.
