Dr. Popwell, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University. He completed his residency in the United States Air Force and served as the Chief of Neurology at Keesler Medical Center from 2003 through 2005. After his honorable discharge, Dr. Popwell spent 5 years in private practice in Colorado before relocating to Montana in 2010.
Over the last 15 years he’s continued to practice neurology while serving his colleagues as a respected physician executive, recently serving as a multi-state regional medical director for a major health system with responsibility for over 27 specialties and 300 clinicians. Dr. Popwell is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of Washington where he teaches clinical neurology to 2nd year medical students.
In 2022, Dr. Popwell and his family started DocSide®, a Montana-based healthcare technology corporation, with a goal of creating a universally accessible e-Consult platform and a national network of local and regional e-Consult Ecosystems™. Launched in early 2025, DocSide is an intuitive and affordable mobile and web-based e-consult solution that empowers healthcare professionals across all care environments to create more equitable and affordable access to specialty expertise, easily collaborate, generate additional revenue, and optimize care for their patients.
