About

Specialty(ies): |

Dr. Schacter is an osteopathic trained medical doctor that is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry and board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is a Distinguished Fellow with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her scope of treatment begins with early childhood through adulthood. She is also a speaker for various organizations on managing stress and burnout and understanding gender differences in its presentation and management.

She attended medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where osteopathic philosophy is understanding the whole person and exploring beyond the symptoms. It is a person-centered treatment that explores the causes, vulnerabilities, disease symptoms and their interplay to promote wellness. She has a private psychiatry practice based on an interactive teaching model to help patients and their families understand the intricates of their diagnoses, treatment options, prognoses, and plans as they evolve throughout their care. She continues in her osteopathic approach to helping people reach wellness by using the tools a person has within themselves and assisting them with understanding the dynamics involved in achieving wellness through education, therapy and medication as needed.

Dr. Schacter is a Health and Wellness Coach at Silver Spaces. During COVID-19, she started Silver Spaces, an interactive CME program for Women Medical Professionals to manage stress and burnout using mindfulness, meditation, yoga, CBT, art, and peer support, (accompanied by farm-to-table homemade-gourmet foods & beverages).

She is a functional potter and member of the Charlotte Pottery Guild, Carolina Clay Matters where she expands her pottery skills and techniques. When not working, you can find her spending time with family, making pottery, and making farm-to-table creations.
