Parents are worried about their kids’ weight. After all, we hear about the risks of overweight in the news, have so much attention paid to weight and BMI and growth curves in the medical office, and then we see our kids growing in ways that we’re just not sure where this is heading.
You’re not alone.
Family in Focus with Wendy Schofer, MD, is the podcast for parents who want to find real ways to help their raise their whole family to be healthy, without adding more to our plate! That means understanding why we are worried, and helping ourselves understand how weight and health and food and activity have become such landmines at home.
Ultimately, instead of creating food fights, forced exercise and fearing disordered eating, parents learn the tools that actually work to create healthier relationships with food, body and family. It starts with us, as parents, as we are in the perfect spot to help our whole family.
Wendy uses her 20+ years of practicing pediatrics with a firm understanding of child development and the biology of growth & metabolism and combines it with something that we aren’t using in the traditional medical office: focusing on what we do want, and harnessing the power of decisions, motivation and positive psychology to create health at home.
While Wendy Schofer, MD, discusses health and wellness, this is not medical advice and she is not your doctor. The Family in Focus programs and products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, they are for educational purposes only. Optimal health is achieved in combination with your physician, who collaborates with you for your individual health. Talk to your doctor about your medical questions. And tell them about Family in Focus. Mwah!
