Photine Liakos MD, CPE

Orthopaedic Surgeon, mom of two, writer, avid reader

About

I received my undergraduate and medical school degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. I completed my orthopaedic surgery residency training at Barnes/Jewish Medical Center in St. Louis and my foot and ankle fellowship at the same institution. I was in private practice for almost 20 years, including 3 years as the managing director of my orthopaedic group. I received my CPE from the American Association for Physician Leadership in 2015.  I have transitioned away from active practice although I still volunteer with a local free clinic.

I am also a writer and I have been published in the field of narrative medicine. A selection of my essays have been included in the upcoming book What We Bring to the Practice of Medicine: Perspectives from Women Physicians, published by Kent University Press.

I have experience with copywriting and editing for websites and marketing literature. I also have experience with copywriting, proofreading and developmental editing in fiction writing.
