I was thinking about it today in clinic, when I knocked on my patient’s door.
Then I walked in, sat down, and told him the scans were stable.
Then he started dancing.
I smiled.
I laughed.
I celebrated right alongside him.
Yes, some days I grieve.
But I get to support my patients on the hard days and celebrate with them on the happy ones.
And that is pretty great.
