Dr. Meryl Kahan is a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner with more than a decade of experience in women’s health. She is the founder of SheMD, a boutique women’s health practice in New York City offering comprehensive gynecology, hormone optimization, and personalized care for women navigating their 20s through 50s.
Dr. Kahan graduated magna cum laude from Brandeis University with degrees in History and Biology. She earned her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Her career includes experience across both private practice and hospital-based settings in New York and New Jersey, giving her a firsthand understanding of the limitations of traditional women’s healthcare — including rushed appointments, lack of menopause training, and the tendency to overlook root causes.
At SheMD, Dr. Kahan takes an integrative, evidence-based approach that blends advanced hormone therapy with full-spectrum gynecologic care. She incorporates lifestyle guidance and individualized treatment strategies rather than relying on rigid protocols, with a focus on improving sleep, libido, energy, metabolism, mood, and overall well-being.
Dr. Kahan also engages in educational outreach and community programming and is available to speak on topics related to gynecology, perimenopause, menopause, and hormone health.
