“Let the beauty of what you love be what you do” – Rumi
Hello and Welcome! My name is Manizeh Mirza-Gruber, M.D., and I am the CEO and founder of Mindful in Practice, a psychiatric private practice based in Houston, Texas. I am a licensed, board-certified psychiatrist with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
I am also a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, Certified Yoga Teacher, and Certified Mind-Body Medicine Skills Facilitator.
I moved to the United States in 1988 from Karachi, Pakistan, to pursue post-graduate medical training. I am a wife, mother, dog-mom, marathoner. I believe in connecting mind-heart-body-spirit for living well, and have a daily practice of meditation, running/walking, and yoga. I love to cook, read, be in nature, play with my dog, and volunteer.
In addition to my holistic and integrative approach to clinical practice, I offer a separate non-clinical mindfulness meditation/mind-body medicine skills educational and teaching practice to individuals, couples, families, and groups. I look forward to including schools, community mental health, and the homeless.
Several of these evidence-based teachings and practices are incorporated and integrated with traditional therapy and medication management and I have found them to be profoundly effective for wellness and healing. My primary areas of focus are depression, anxiety, trauma-related issues, stress management, parenting concerns, and promoting wellness and healing by connecting mind and body for mental and physical well-being and health.
My challenges, struggles, and successes are a gift and continue to inform me of the beauty and goodness in each of us. Now, more than ever, I believe we must support each other. I look forward to connecting with you!
