Life Support: Beyond the Vent

When many people think about life support – they think about the ventilator. The vent is NOT the only type of life support. Life support is a medication or device that supports a patient’s body. In the ICU, the patient is dependent on these medications or devices while their body’s attempt to heal. This video explains some types of life support that are commonly used in the intensive care unit.
