Hi fellow physicians! Do you need a journal to help you organize your life and set goals without the stickers or motivational quotes? I'm an Infectious Disease physician (graduate of UERM Medicine) practicing full-time in Washington State, a wife, a mother of two young girls, a real estate investor, and a personal development addict. I have been wanting a journal that fits my life as a professional to support my aspirations. I wanted a journal that had a place for "words" and a place for "numbers," but found none. I have so many different notebooks for writing, tasks, gratitude, habit tracking, finances, etc. and they are all mismatched. I shared this sentiment with my mother who was visiting from the Philippines and she brought out 5 notebooks from her bag each one for her to do lists, goals, finances, travel planning, important financial information, etc. I asked my sister, and the same thing happened (actually even more notebooks!). So from this encounter, an idea was born. My mother and I collaborated and created the "Every Year Is My Best Year" journal inspired by books such as The 12 Week Year, Die with Zero, Atomic Habits, The Gap and the Gain, and many more. It contains everything I would want in a journal: goal setting, priorities, gratitude, habit tracker, weekly celebrations, 30-90-180-360 day markers to keep me on track, and a list of my charitable contributions. There is also space for travel planning, a bucket list, acquisition list, book discussions, and highlight photos of the year. There is a section for income and expenses as well. My hope is to document our biggest lives - we of all people know how fleeting and fragile life can be so this journal aims to put our biggest and most meaningful goals at the forefront. At the end of the year, you can add this book to your library and you can look back on your journey, year after year. What a great way to keep memories so that our future heirs may get to know us from our own writings by reading about our goals/dreams/things we were grateful for during that chapter in our lives with accompanying photographs. How I wish I could read my great grandmother's journals when she was 37 years old and see what she looked like then or how her family looked then. In addition, I wanted a journal that is so beautiful I always want it on hand. So we collaborated with select artists to showcase their paintings on the journal covers. Currently we have two Filipino artists on the covers. Another feature is a yellow notebook entitled, "Everything you need to know is in my Yellow Notebook." This was inspired by my late grandfather who was the patriarch of our family. When he passed on suddenly, no one knew the things he owned or where they were. He appeared in an interface dream to one of his grandchildren with the message "Everything you need to know is in my yellow folder." No one has ever seen a yellow folder in his possession while he was living. My mom and uncle searched his study for this yellow folder and as they were about to chalk it up to some silly dream, my uncle decided to sit in my grandpa's desk chair to mimic his perspective of the room. As he stood up from the chair, he swiveled backwards and hit a cabinet behind him from which a stack of papers fell, and there it was "the yellow folder," which indeed contained everything he owned. I've always wondered what my grandpa had to give up or bargain for in order to send that message across from the afterlife. Hopefully this notebook can save us some heartache. This yellow notebook is a financial ledger to help us and our families navigate through our financial documents. It will contain insurances and assets with respective beneficiaries, and your liabilities. It has a place on the cover where you sign and date the yellow notebook so everything is in your penmanship. Of course it does not replace a legal document such as a will, but they are your wishes, in your handwriting. Each set contains a full year journal, a yellow notebook, and a manual "how to" to help you use the journal to its fullest.
