Dr. Shah is a cardiologist and Chief Medical Officer for a medtech company. He started his winding path in medicine at the city general hospital of Kansas City – Truman Medical Center at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, following that with residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, and finally a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Washington University in St. Louis.
To start his clinical career, he began in Portland, OR, where he started his own cardiology practice from the ground up, building it over 7 years into a large, successful, and very busy cardiovascular program, as well as leading the overall umbrella organization of 110 physicians and 600 employees.
He then was recruited to the Mayo Clinic to build a complex thoracic aortic disease program which he started, built, and ran for 3 years. Two years ago, he began his role as the Chief Medical Officer of a small medtech startup called Aktiia, where he leads across commercial, product, strategy, and R&D functions. Given the breadth of experience, he has also started consulting across the healthcare ecosystem. He continues to practice cardiology and resides in Boston, MA.
