Dr. Jacqueline Winkelmann (known as “Doctor Jacq”) is an award-winning pediatric hospitalist who has held multiple leadership roles over her 20 year career at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. These roles include Director of the Medical-Surgical unit, Quality Committee Chair, Medical Staff Performance Committee Chair, Department of Medicine Chair, Chief-of-Staff, and member of the Board of Directors. She is a national and international speaker, leading hospital efforts around the opioid epidemic. More recently she has been a leader in several non-profit organizations aiming to end human trafficking in the US and around the world.

Dr. Winkelmann retired from clinical medicine in 2018 and transitioned to a non-clinical career as a medical advisor and consultant. She has held roles including Chair of the Medical Advisory Board and Chief Medical Officer for pediatric-focused consumer and medical device companies. She has been involved in product launch, marketing strategies, research studies, consumer education campaigns, and recruitment of advisory board members. As CMO, she worked closely with the CEO and CPO/CTO, leading all aspects of internal and external clinical research, contributed in the preparation of clinical study protocols and FDA documents. She worked on establishing industry partnerships, and presented device information and data to clinicians and others in the industry.

Dr. Winkelmann completed her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis. After working as a research assistant for 2 years she attended the University of Illinois/Chicago School of Medicine and completed her residency in Pediatrics at Hope Children’s Hospital in Chicago. She won the Resident of the Year and Chief Resident of the Year Awards. She recently completed the Chief Medical Officer Executive Program at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

Dr. Winkelmann is the Founder and CEO of Scrub Sisters, a 501c3 organization for female physicians at all levels of training on a mission to create a nurturing and empowering community within the medical profession. Scrub Sisters has a vision of fostering a space where women come together to share experiences, mentorship, and discuss the realities of life in and outside of medicine. Our pillars are Community, Mentorship, Real-Life Conversations, Diversity & Inclusion and Advocacy. Scrub Sisters will offer scholarships to women applying to medical school and residency. Scrub Sisters will be launching local in-person chapters in Puerto Rico, Southern California, Utah, Washington DC and Delhi, India the Summer/Fall of 2024.

Doctor Jacq was born and raised in Puerto Rico and has been married to her college sweetheart since 1993; they have 2 children. She enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling, and is looking forward to a new adventure in Park City, Utah this Fall.
