In this talk I will review the body of literature supporting the use of mindfulness-based interventions, hypnotherapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy in the treatment of hot flashes, sexual function, sleep in the menopause transition and the position of the Menopause Society on these interventions. I will also review other non-pharmacologic and herbal treatments and discuss their evidence base. I will introduce data from a clinical pilot where I implemented these tools in a cancer survivorship population with contraindications to hormone therapy. Practical tools will be offered on how to empower our patients and ourselves with self guided practices for improved symptom support including a “cooling body scan” practice.
