Interesting experience while developing your innovation

Idea first came when I was sitting in a room with a patient who was complaining about their experience of making an appointment. I have 10,000 patients with my cell number and there was no shortage of complaints. Receptionist was rude, nobody answered the phone. I was put on hold for too long. I was told next appointment was for 4 weeks later and this was a sick visit etc etc. Also 50% of my consult requests met the same issues.

Mistakes/hurdles along the way

We have realized that many patients don’t know the type of insurance they have when they try to make an appointment. Our system has created an algorithm which made the experience of selecting patient insurance easy

Typical day in your life

Start seeing patients at 7 am. Run smart appointment platform as a CEO the rest of the day.

Someone who inspires you

My wife who is the practice manager, convinced me that we can do better than zocdoc especially when they changed their billing model.

Parting words of wisdom

We as physicians are too busy taking care of our patients, sometimes it is good to slow down and see how we can leverage technology and our skills set to make our lives better and those of our colleagues.

Innovator Bio

Dr. Adalbert Pilip attended Stony Brook University for his undergraduate studies where he completed a degree in Psychology with Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical training at Technion School of Medicine in Israel and completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at a prestigious Albert Einstein School of Medicine Montefiore Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Adalbert Pilip completed his Cardiology fellowship at Stony Brook University Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Cardiology.
