“The hospital c-suite executive positions should be centered around innovation that produce results that genuinely make a difference for care teams and patients.”
“Healthcare is a service industry and success is all in the care team design.”
“Healthcare needs a ‘Results Office’ that is one-in-the-same with the c-suite, and not in addition to, as we often see in healthcare organizations.”
“Teamplay. Leadership. Wellness. This is how WE get things done.”
Those were words spoken to me in recent days by a clinical and academic physician leader in a large for-profit health system.
An engaged, engaging, and happy physician who is supported in his clinical practice along with his academic leadership role.
An enthusiastic gentleman who aligns with my belief in creating and supporting the proper care team model to meet the needs of the patients AND the team.
“Healthcare is a service industry and success is all in the care team design.”
Leadership that authentically engages with the team and IS part of the team.
Wellness referring to human beings who are good people at the core and have a healthy value system to support the delivery of care.
People that have healthy lives outside of work and truly LIVE.

This conversation was one of my favorites in recent months.
Why?
The experiences, passion, ideas, and energy we shared for making a difference in the lives of patients and care teams made me smile and still carries me today.
Learning of his entrepreneurial spirit and endeavors with his family and friends was both inspirational and made me awe struck.
A robust life filled with joy and a giving spirit.
He instilled hope that together we can make a difference.
He shared that his family owns and operates a fireworks company that produces events and displays globally.
Imagine the teamwork and precision necessary to produce such an event where safety is paramount.
Like so many industries outside of healthcare that demand teamwork to produce winning and safe results, healthcare demands the same.
Healthcare is the epitome of a team sport.
I would pack my home and dogs tomorrow and move to work alongside such a physician leader as it would bring me joy.
Today is another day filled with gratitude for the privilege of meeting so many amazing people who care.
