Endorsing Products without Scientific Integrity (Anonymous Post in DSV)

Was approached to endorse a beauty product without sufficient scientific evidence. Yikes. An anonymous post in Doctor Side Ventures.

The Question:

Hey gang!
Derm here. Side gig is in medical aesthetics and cosmetic procedures, which has been a natural extension of my expertise.
Was approached to endorse a beauty product without sufficient scientific evidence. Yikes.
Anyway, I really want to support my side gig while upholding evidence-based medicine, but it’s proving really challenging.
Have you found that particular side gigs are more compatible with your medical career than others?
Has anyone tackled the issue of scientific integrity in their online work?
Are there any physicians you know of, who are advertising on social media, and not encountering any issues from their employers, or from colleagues?
