Dr. Elizabeth Malinzak is a pediatric anesthesiologist and Associate Professor at Duke University, where she serves as the Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Anesthesiology. She attended medical school and residency at Duke University and pursued a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Malinzak’s academic interests include medical education and simulation, social media, leadership development, gender equity, and advocacy for young physicians. As such, she is the Past President of Women in Anesthesiology, a board examiner and question author for the American Board of Anesthesiology, and previous Chair of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Committee on Young Physicians. Her advocacy for women anesthesiologists and young physicians has culminated in the adoption of ASA Statement on Personal Leave and ASA Statement on Lactation.
