Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center is hosting a panel session focused on reducing financial toxicity amongst patients. The panel will be comprised of members from patient navigation, financial counseling and social work.
Financial toxicity will be explained, as well the roles of each of these teams in helping to reduce the financial burden patients and caregivers face. The panel will conclude by sharing how their highly collaborative efforts have allowed patients to focus on their care while reducing the stress of their financial burden.
Session Objectives:
I. Define financial toxicity and how it impacts patients and caregivers.
II. Describe how Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Patient Navigation, Financial
Counseling and Social Work teams work with patients to address financial toxicity.
III. Discuss ways to reduce financial toxicity through collaboration amongst these teams.
