Dr. Daniel B. Bruzzini MD MBA CPE (Dan) is a certified physician executive and retired Air Force Colonel who uses his leadership skill and business acumen as CEO of Prochorus Advising LLC. Its mission is to develop, evaluate, and implement policies and programs for managed care organizations, policy makers, nonprofits, and businesses to improve the health of pregnant women and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) babies.

Having served as the National Medical Director for Centene’s Neonatal Center of Excellence for 280k pregnant mothers and their babies in 32 states, he directed maternal and neonatal health policies and programs to help pregnant women have healthy pregnancies and for their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) babies to have a healthy hospital course and post-NICU follow-up.

He is also a full-time board-certified clinical Neonatologist for a multi-state private practice group. He travels to Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Texas to help families care for their NICU babies. He uses these diverse experiences to develop and disseminate successful maternal and neonatal health policies and practices.

Dan graduated medical school from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the military medical school in Bethesda, Maryland. This prepared him well for his first assignment as a flight surgeon for fighter pilots with combat tours in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman. Afterwards, he returned to the academic world, completing his pediatric residency at Wright-Patterson AFB/Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. This eventually led to a humanitarian tour in Afghanistan to help restore Afghan obstetrical, pediatric, and neonatal care. It also led Dan to develop, in conjunction with the Society of Critical Care Medicine, a pediatric critical care course that the US military has adopted to prepare its doctors, nurses, and medics for the critical care needs of children affected by natural disasters, humanitarian crises, and war.

Dan lives in Saint Louis with his wife, a university professor in Anatomy and Cell Biology. They have two adult children and a German Shepard. Dan enjoys Shakespearean theatre, studying for his Master’s in public policy, history, and beekeeping.
