What I do as a Coach

In my writing and publishing practice, success is watching my clients create their literary works, and then get their stories published in a high-quality book that can be purchased all over the world. There’s nothing quite like holding your own book in print!

For my work with professionals or with anyone struggling to find joy and purpose in their lives beyond the day-to-day just “getting by”, success is when my clients start to recognize the sources of their self-limiting beliefs and decide for themselves if their current paradigms make sense to them. As they reframe their lives in the meaning of their own choosing, they invariably find strength and satisfaction, and they pursue dreams they thought they would never reach for.

My Coaching Topics

Publishing:
1. Crafting a page-turner of a novel
2. Choosing a publishing option that feels right for my client
3. Guiding clients through the query/submission process
OR
1. Discussing the faster self-publishing option that gives them more control over royalties and earnings
2. Coaching clients to set up their own accounts with distributors, locate appropriate editors and cover designers
3. Assist with all the extraneous details needed to publish a solid book
4. I can then format their manuscript and generate the files they need to upload to each site (or just to a single site, if they prefer)

Mindset coaching:
1. Define where my client is in their life, in what ways their life works and in what ways is it frustrating or painful
2. Have clients identify and acknowledge their assets and challenges (I find, too often, clients don’t recognize their strengths)
3. Discuss what beliefs are holding them back from initiating change
4. Client chooses action steps to start them on a journey toward their dreams
5. I am there to keep them accountable and to assist

My Ideal Client

I have two types of ideal client: The first is the writer, at any stage of their project. Whether they have started a story and are having trouble finishing it or whether they have no idea what they want to write about, except they know they want to write. I also work with clients who have a finished or nearly finished manuscript and are confused about where to go from there. My other type of client is the person who is feeling unhappy or frustrated with their life where it stands, and are having difficulty making changes. These are often healthcare workers or other professionals who feel trapped in the “corporate machine.” I have worked with people from all stations in life, but most frequently, with physicians.

Here's what client success looks like to me:
