I am owner, founder, and sole physician at In Touch Pediatrics and Lactation, a home visit DPC practice in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. I worked at a large academic setting for 13 years and ultimately needed to follow my own path in order to practice medicine the way I believe is right. In addition to practicing general pediatrics (via the DPC membership model), I offer Breastfeeding Medicine consults and Concierge-style 4th Trimester Postpartum Packages to help ease the transition to parenthood – a time when traditionally we have focused on the baby, while the mother and entire family need support to get through this challenging time. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are very common and 4th Trimester Care can be instrumental in both preventing them as well as catching them early and providing assistance in finding the resources to treat them. Organized 4th Trimester Care can literally save lives. I am passionate about doing my part in moving this necessary health service forward as a standard and automatic part of perinatal care for everyone.
I have received extensive training in Breastfeeding Medicine and continue to be involved in teaching medical students as the adviser for a Breastfeeding and Lactation 4th Year Elective at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, and I serve as the Co-Chair for the Committee on Breastfeeding for the Illinois chapter of the AAP. In addition, I am a founding board member of the North American Board of Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine, which will soon be credentialing the first wave of board-certified Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine Specialists.
