“Branding” sounds weird. Especially to us folks who are doctors, & aren’t used to selling anything. We’re supposed to just.. heal.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But branding is the fancy modern-day term for setting yourself up to be effectively marketed. And even if you cringe at the thought of marketing yourself, or think you’re “above” that kind of stuff, you really aren’t.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everything we do in life revolves around the concept of marketing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From talking to a patient about the treatment to their illness (you’re marketing to them that your advice should be followed and hoping that you hit JUST the right points to convince them to do it; a successful “client conversion”!).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To getting more patients to come into your office because you’ve marketed yourself as the BEST physician around. Maybe shown this to be the case using powerful social media channels.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To having a conversation with your children over a meal (hey, marketing concepts are at play when you’re convincing them to put their phones away & listen, or do more chores.)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you start paying attention to the little nuances that shape the way you communicate, & consequently, to the successes you meet when optimizing those very interactions, marketing becomes kinda cool.
