Too many doctors are being blindly funneled into traditional employment jobs that ultimately prove to be harmful to them, potentially even leading them to leave our profession.
I love being a doctor and want the same for you.
I was a traditional physician employee who was headed for burnout when I discovered a hidden path that saved my career. I want to share my discovery with you.
It begins by understanding you are a business.
It’s time for doctors to empower themselves to avoid this tragic outcome of burnout and the path to do this involves going back to our historical roots of operating as micro-professional corporations. This modern version of independent practice involves activating your built-in superpower to be an individual small business and preserving your professional autonomy. This modern version is virtual, has one employee (you), and is different from its older bricks-and-mortar predecessor of “private practice”.
Your micro-corporation can then be used to contract out your professional services to a wide variety of jobs. A few examples include:
Employment Lite-This is what I do. Here you provide long-term independent contracting professional services in a business-to-business relationship, rather than as a W-2 employee. This is the parallel structure to traditional employment but is done through your micro-corporation.
Part-time or Side Jobs-The burgeoning opportunities for telehealth professional work available will lead most doctors to have multiple income channels.
Locum Tenens-The traditional realm of temporary work.
Direct-Patient Care-The new option to directly contract with patients and cut out third parties.
