This is the place to receive weekly installments from a pediatrician-coach who specializes in helping parents who are worried about their kids’ weight. You see, even though I had all the medical training of a pediatrician and tons of practice, I still found myself side-eyeing my kids’ growth and eating habits. That all changed when I broke out of the traditional medical-view of children’s healthy weight and growth and discovered the power of creating healthier relationships with food, body and family. Health is a series of relationships that we create every single day.
I founded Family in Focus to support other parents who want to understand why we are just so damn focused on our kids’ weight and actually help them without bringing diets into our homes.
The blog is story-based, irreverent (Hey, I’m a pediatrician with a sailor’s mouth), full of sass and calling out the common approaches to “weight management” – which is really just a diet in different clothes. Links to podcast audio are included.
