Beyond Youtube: How Doctors Can Grow Online, Faster.

Dana Corriel, MD, wanted to create a way for doctors to not just build up views on their videos, but to also collect emails.

January 12, 2024

Today’s entrepreneurs must think outside of the box. They must create useful products and services, and ideally ones that are innovative, and not yet in play.

I’m constantly trying to come up with new things to introduce to those who follow and believe in what I’ve built, here on the SoMeDocs platform. And it seems that what I built works (just look at the site you’re on)!

My latest idea involves quicker online growth for doctors.

Specifically, an idea that goes.. BEYOND YOUTUBE.

sneaky smile over a bowl of noodles..
concocting my great idea (possibly over a bowl of noodles. I don’t remember how I concocted it, really)..

Here’s the short of the long:

I love the concept of Youtube. The fact that we can create videos and make them accessible to the world is.. just cool.

The opposite is true, too. The fact that the world can access US (real doctors with real degrees) through videos, and for free, is also super cool.

But sometimes it’s hard for individuals like me – doctors that have valuable info to share. It’s hard because we’re doing it alone.

Here’s what I mean.

We put in time and effort to create our video.

Filming, old school
Depiction of me, filming, back in the stone ages..

We set up the “stage” – the background, the lighting.

We put on a smile (ok, so this part isn’t that hard..) and we spend time perfecting what we deliver.

But then we publish, and.. no one sees what we create.

Literal crickets.

This is where I needed to think outside of the box, as a creative entrepreneur.

How could we market our voices more effectively?

More cohesively?

With a larger return?

Where it comes to the free lectures my colleagues and I put so much time and effort into creating, we simply need a better yield.

There has to be more we can do TOGETHER to get a result, as experts in health.

I kept playing around with possibilities. Experimented with options.

Until finally, it hit.

The idea.

It may have taken me years to think of, and create, a solution.

But I finally created one.

My venture now offers our members a chance to deliver lectures – even ones already uploaded to our members’ own YouTube channels – and to collect emails in return, too!

Sign up for the SoMeDocs Newsletter. Each week, get the latest news-worthy content from the world of medicine, unique resources, healthcare opportunities and more. Get it sent to your inbox.

So you’re not just sharing your lecture with our audience. You’re also collecting your own fans, and piling them up in an email list. And then (when you’re ready, of course), you’ll be able to touch base with those interested in what you had to say.

It’s a no-brainer for docs to take part in this. It’s truly a win-win.

As the builder of this feature, I can tell you, first-hand, how much I appreciate today’s tools. Combined with an entrepreneurial mindset, ideas like these can actually get built.

And so I’ve built it.

Totally agree with you, Mr. Cuban, sir.

My point is this: don’t do it alone.
Do it with us. Do it with SoMeDocs.
