Clinical and Academic Roles

A board-certified general pediatrician and pediatric cardiologist,
Dr. Ben Reinking cares for children with congenital and acquired heart disease,
with particular expertise in echocardiography, fetal cardiology, and
single-ventricle heart disease. He has held multiple leadership roles,
including Medical Director of Pediatric Echocardiography, Medical Director
of Clinical Pediatric Cardiology, Fellowship Program Director, and
Faculty Co-Director of the Boulware Learning Community at the Carver College of Medicine.

Dr. Reinking has contributed numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations
in pediatric cardiology and medical education, and he is actively involved in
multicenter clinical research improving outcomes for children with complex heart disease.

The Developing Doctor & Physician Coaching

Drawing from his own experience with burnout and career redesign,
Dr. Reinking founded The Developing Doctor, a coaching and
development practice that helps physicians, trainees, and other high achievers
build sustainable, values-aligned careers in and beyond medicine.
He is a Master Certified Physician Development Coach and holds
certifications in DISC communication styles and
Emotional Intelligence (EIQ).

Through one-on-one coaching, group programs, and online courses,
he focuses on practical skills rarely taught in training—leadership,
emotional intelligence, boundary setting, career design, and navigating
transitions—so physicians can heal their own “broken hearts” by using them
more, not less.

Educator, Mentor, and Leader

Across his roles as clinician, educator, and coach, Dr. Reinking is known
for his calm, candid, and deeply human approach. He has formally and
informally mentored medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty,
helping them reconnect with the reasons they chose medicine in the first
place and equipping them with tools to thrive long term.

Whether in the echocardiography lab, the classroom, or a coaching session,
Dr. Reinking’s work centers on a simple belief: when physicians are supported
to lead with both skill and heart, everyone—patients, teams, and the
healthcare system—does better.
