Alejandro Badia, MD, FACS is a hand and upper extremity surgeon at Badia Hand to Shoulder Center in Doral, Florida and Founder of OrthoNOW® Immediate Orthopedic Care Centers. I studied physiology at Cornell University and obtained my medical degree at NYU, also training there and Bellevue Hospital in orthopedic surgery. A hand fellowship at Alleghany General Hospital in Pittsburgh was followed by an AO trauma fellowship in Freiburg, Germany.
I am a co-founder of the renowned Miami Anatomical Research Center ( M.A.R.C. ) , one of the world’s largest surgical cadaveric training labs.I am past worldwide president of the International Society for Sport Traumatology of the Hand (ISSPORTH) , was named to 100 Latinos Miami, and been given legacy awards by several organizations as well as honorary membership in multiple international hand surgery and arthroscopy associations. I have lectured in all seven continents and currently focused on improving healthcare delivery in the orthopedics and sports medicine realm. The challenges encountered in seeking this goal led me to write the book, “Healthcare From the Trenches” exposing the constant hurdles and obstacles to delivering quality and cost-effective care within the bloated US Healthcare system.
