I am an orthopaedic surgeon that is “part-time.” Some refer to it as locums; I refer to it as part-time. I recognized early in my career that I did not want to do the traditional grind. I found that working 10-15 days per month as a surgeon suited me well. I now advocate for other physicians to consider locums, part-time and non-traditional roles. I am building a community of physicians and CRNAs looking to contract directly with medical facilities rather than going through a middleman (i.e., staffing agency or privately contracted group) to provide their services.
