Daniel Paull MD explains how to ruin your marriage through medicine in just 5 easy steps.

December 11, 2023

How to ruin your marriage through medicine in a few easy steps:

Step 1

Find a wonderful spouse.

Step 2

Bring your spouse along with you as you travel the country for the better part of 10 years to do medical training.

Make sure you tell them that it will get much better once you become an attending.

Step 3

Take a job at a large hospital system or private practice.

Make sure you sign a non-compete that forces you to work or get out of Dodge.

Step 4

Spend liberally.

Make sure you get your forever home right off the bat (eww yuck starter homes!).

Upgrade your cars to Mercedes, BMW, Tesla…

Just make sure that it costs at least double of any other car that you have previously owned.

Also, make sure you send your kids to private school.

This is important, especially if the public schools in your area are very good.

Step 5

Hit those RVUs hard. You gotta get that bonus to keep up the lifestyle!

Make sure that you spend as little time with your family as you can, and definitely make sure that you don’t have time for your spouse.

70-80 hour weeks minimum.

Coming home grumpy and angry every day is a plus!

There you have it. Five steps to help you get that divorce started!
